Scholarship Awards
The Metropolitan Society of Kardamylians is offering Scholarship Awards
children whose parents are members of the society.
The amount of the College Awards varies every year with the minimum of
$1,000.00 which is equally divided between the students who meet the scholarship
requirements (see below).
In addition to the College awards, the society, in order to emphasize
the importance of the study of the Greek language, rewards each year with
$100.00 US Savings Bonds all the young students who have successfully completed
the Greek Regents Exams given by the State of New York, . If the student
resides in New Jersey or in a State without official Regents Exams, the
student is eligible to receive the reward if he/she has, for that year,
successfully completed 6 years of Elementary Greek Language studies.
The applications' deadline is September 30 each year and the scholarship
committee notifies the eligible students soon after.
On November during the Kardamylitiko Glendi
and Student Awards' Night and among friends and family members,
the society honors its award winning students.
In addition, in recognition to the importance the society holds for the
well been of our ancestral home and its schools, it is offering in memory
of George P. Livanos, two $250.00 Scholarship Awards,
to the two students of the Kardamylian High Schools, with the highest GPA.
- 1. The Society allocates each year an amount no less than $1,000.00
to be divided equally among all the qualified applicants.
- 2. A minimum amount of a $ 1,000.00 is guaranteed by our Society
each year. Additional funds will be solicited throughout the year from
our members and supporters. These funds will be added to the total available
amount.
- 3. The maximum amount of the award for each eligible applicant
is $1,000.00 and the minimum is $250.00. Surplus amounts will be added
to the next year's awards and in case there is a shortage our society will
cover the difference.
1. The applicant must be a member of the Society in good standing.
2. The applicant is accepted as a full time student in an accredited
College or University in the USA for the current fall semester.
3. The applicant must have a Cumulative Grade Point Average of
3.5 or above for the current year's fall/Spring Semester
or
if the applicant is this year's High School graduate he/she must have achieved
1200 or above PSAT/SAT score.
4. Recipient (or a parent) must be present to receive the award
at the awards' night.
5. The student or his/her family members must participate in at
least two of the society's events during the year prior to the application's
deadline, not counting the Scholarship Night event. For the year 1999, the
requirement is one event.

The Society created two $250.00 Scholarship awards to be awarded to each
graduate of the Kardamylian High Schools with the best GPA each year. The
office of the Mayor of Kardamyla will declare the winners of the awards
and will notify the society in writing and with the supporting documents.
In case of a tie the more than one winners will split the award money.
